Midsummer Daydream Hoop Intensive

Hello beautiful humans of Portland! Our group of two hometown heroes (Laura Aszman and Kendall Rae) and two out of town instructors (Katie Pinto and Benjamin Berry) are bringing the retreat to you, with a day of enriching hoop dance workshops. Below you will find a schedule, location, pricing/payment info, and workshop descriptions. Please bring comfy clothes, hydration, and invite the local flowmies. We are simply ecstatic to have the chance to share with you all!

SCHEDULE (full workshop descriptions below):
11 am-12 pm Hoop games and picnic
12 pm-1:30 pm - Creative Hoop Dance with Benjamin Berry
1:45 pm -2:45 pm - Let it Roll with Kendall Moyer or Beginner Hoop Dance with Laura Aszman
3 pm-4:15 pm - Two of a Kind: Twin and Partner Hooping with Katie Pinto
4:30 pm- 5 pm - Closing Circle
5pm - Hoop Jam

LOCATION:
To keep this intensive accessible, we decided to offer it at Alberta Park. We will meet at the shady basketball courts near NE Killingsworth.

COST:
$50 for full workshop pass!
$80 "Bring a friend" for two workshop passes!
$35 half day pass - covers two of the workshops (11-2:45 or 1:45-5)

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS:
-Creative Hoop Dance with Benjamin Berry:
A dance class for hoopers of all levels, designed to unlock more pathways in YOUR unique flow. Together, we will warm up our bodies and brains with BrainDance, explore Space concepts through individual and partner improvisation, practice hoop-friendly dance techniques, and collaboratively create short movement phrases. The result is a more embodied and dynamic hoop dance practice and a chance to develop our choreographic minds.

-Let it Roll with Kendall Rae:
Learn excellent form for seamless body rolls! We will study shoulder, chest, and full body rolls with an abundance of interesting variations. We will also explore some funky tosses and creative catches!

-Beginner Hoop Dance with Laura Aszman:
New to hooping? Can’t quite keep a hoop up? This workshop is for you! Laura will be going over basic on and off body movements that will give you a beautiful introduction into this hoopy life!

-Two of a Kind with Katie Pinto:
Explore the use of two hoops in a variety of isolations, weaves, tosses and jump throughs. Then we will jump in a little deeper by using two people to explore these techniques in partner work!
